"Like most of America, California is geared to the car. We didn't have a car with us, as our reason for being there was to visit my son and his family; so we had to use taxis. The taxi drivers were hopeless; some of them even got lost on the way to the hotel. I would suggest encouraging a local cab-driver to learn his way round the area so that the hotel could use him with confidence.
The one restaurant within easy walking distance did not really cater for vegetarians."
